A safe sports environment

Participating in sports in a safe environment, free from transgressive behavior, should be a matter of course for everyone. Therefore, as an association, we have taken preventive measures to try to prevent sexual harassment and abuse, among other things, as effectively as possible. We have also established a reporting point in case transgressive behavior has occurred. Pursuant to the 'Sexual Harassment Regulations' of the Institute for Sports Jurisprudence (ISR), board members and supervisors of sports associations are obliged to report suspicions of sexual harassment and abuse to the sports federation.

WHAT DOES THAT REPORTING OBLIGATION MEAN?

Members have a reporting responsibility. This means that in the event of a suspicion of sexual harassment or sexual abuse, they must report this to the board, unless this cannot reasonably be expected of someone.

Drivers and supervisors
If a board member of the association or sports federation suspects a situation involving sexual harassment or sexual abuse, he or she is obliged to report this to the sports federation. If a supervisor knows or suspects something, he or she is obliged to report this to the board of the club. Reports to the ISR prosecutor, as described in Article 3, are made via the Confidential Contact Person (VCP) of the federation. CONFIDENTIAL CONTACT PERSONS AT Zuyd Cycling Team

What is a Confidential Contact Person (VCP)?

Within our association, a VCP (Confidential Contact Person) is the point of contact for complaints regarding unwanted behavior by members, supervisors, or board members. Unwanted behavior can include sexual harassment such as unwanted touching, inappropriate remarks, unwanted intimacy, sexual assault, and rape. Other forms of unwanted behavior include bullying, belittling, ignoring, exclusion from the group, etc.

It is the task of a VCP to assess a complaint together with the complainant and then decide together how to proceed. In cases of relatively minor forms of transgressive behavior, a VCP may attempt to resolve the matter themselves in consultation with the complainant. In cases of doubt and serious incidents, the VCP will assist in establishing contact with the NOC/NSF, which has a special department for this purpose.

From a preventive perspective, all volunteers at Zuyd Cycling Team who come into contact with vulnerable groups and/or have one-on-one contact with a rider in a position of dependency are required to submit a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) before starting work within the association. The board provides a form for this purpose to the persons concerned. Requesting a VOG is not done out of mistrust, but is part of our effort to prevent unwanted behavior at Zuyd Cycling Team.

Within our association, Hans Eliens and Natasja Jacobs (contact via the secretary) have been appointed as VCPs by the board.
