International competitions

When there are no races on the calendar in the Netherlands, the race weekend doesn't have to be lost. Many riders then look just across the border, towards Belgium or Germany, where great races are organized almost every weekend.

To participate in competitions abroad, according to international rules, you need a letter of permission from the national federation. In this letter, the federation—for riders with Dutch nationality, this is the KNWU—gives approval for participation abroad. In itself, this is nothing new, but the process for applying for these letters has recently changed.

Starting in March 2026, you can arrange this 'Abroad permission' yourself via MijnKNWU. This makes the application process much easier and faster: you will receive your permission letter within a few minutes. You can find out exactly how this works at Foreign permission - KNWU .

Please note: First check carefully if there are any events in the vicinity/province.
